.The Underground Southern Soul Awards is a committee of radio and music insiders , who in conjunction with WLYB Radio in Meridian MS, desire to recognize so many of the unsung talent of Southern Soul. The Underground Southern Soul Awards were created to honor the talented artist of Southern Soul who are not always recognized for their hard work and talent. 

This is a Black Tie Event be prepared to walk the Red Carpet.

The Underground Southern Soul Awards pay special homage to those who have left a mark on Southern Soul and have paved a path for others to travel.
Sir Charles Jones

With the release of his first two albums, Sir Charles changed the course of Southern Soul music and laid the blueprint for contemporary Southern Soul. His first album, Sir Charles Jones, released in 2000 and his 2nd album , Love Machine, spent 57 weeks on the U.S. Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, where it peaked at number 28 in June 2002.

He scored a hit from his  first album"I Can Bagg It Up" with the infectious dance song "Can U Bagg It Up?" and has carved a niche in the modern "Southern Soul" market.

They are more than a Social Club, these ladies have taken their drive  and passion for community beyond the show stage into the real community; they provide scholorships, food baskets, school supplies and so much more. Black Tie Gala
This is a Black Tie/Red Carpet event - no jeans, t-shirts or sneakers will be allowed. We ask that the gentlemen wear tuxes or suits with ties and that the ladies a long formal gown  or a shorter fancy cocktail dress or fancy jumpsuit that is black tie appropriate. Photographers will be ready to snap your photos as you walk the red carpet, so dress to impress!

To be in compliance .with the CDC and the State of Mississippi, The Underground Southern Soul Awards  will require that every attendee wear a face mask, have their temperature checked and sanitize hands upon entering the venue, and sign a release form. We will practice social distancing with event seating.

2021 Nominations Submission
We will accept request for nomination consideration for 2021 awards from December 1, 2020 through July 31, 2021; all bodies of work must have been released between August 1, 2020 through July 1, 2021. Please submit to Voting Committee  at [email protected] by midnight July 31, 2021 to be considered for the Underground Southern Soul Awards 2021.  Thank you so much. We are honored to honor Southern Soul!
Submission requirements:
1. Your submission must be a complete song
2. Your song submission must be on MP3 format
3. Your submission file must include the name of the song and the artist; if you are submitting for Song of the Year, you must include the name of the songwriter and a cover art if available.
4.Video submission may be submitted via YouTube, or other video links; must include the name of the artist, song and director.
5. Your submission must include your or representative's contact information - Legal name, Stage name, email address, phone number

ANY SUBMISSION THAT DOES NOT ADHERE TO THE ABOVE GUIDELINES WILL NOT BE REVIEWED FOR NOMINATION CONSIDERATION
